BRITNEY – LAID BARE January 02, 2017 | Celebrity screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-07-57-52 Britney Spears has enjoyed over 20 years in the media spotlight, 6 number 1 albums and a further 23 Number 1 Singles. As she releases her ninth studio album ‘Glory’ to mixed reviews is it finally time for the ‘Toxic’ songstress to hang up her feather boa (or should that be boa constrictor?) Critics have panned the star for miming at her recent UK gig and although she has secured a further 2 year contract for her Las Vegas show is Britney coming to the end of her pop career path?
Britney burst onto the music scene in 1999 with hit single and album of the same name ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ which proceeded to sell over 10 million copies – earning her the accolade of the best-selling teenage solo artist ever. Her stock continued to rise throughout the early 2000’s with album after album notching top spots and her raunchy, gregarious dance routines and costumes capturing the hearts of fans worldwide. She was an overnight teen sensation basking in the fame and fortune that comes with it. But inside Britney was secretly tortured.
Managed by her parents (who went through a bitter divorce) from a young age Britney never had the chance to grow up like a normal girl. She was thrust into auditions, performing at theatres before joining the Mickey Mouse Club at the age of 11 and by the time of her solo success she was only 18.
By 2006 Britney was showing signs of deep personal struggles. A young mother with a marriage on the rocks due to a tumultuous relationship with backing dancer husband Kevin Federline, Britney was pictured driving a car with her 6-month-old son Sean Preston on her lap not a baby seat. In September she gave birth to a second son Jayden James and by November of 2006 she had filed for divorce from Kevin citing “irreconcilable differences.”
However, 2006 wasn’t her annus horribilis. The worse year for teen sensation Britney came in 2007 when she suffered a very public meltdown which included her shaving her head, attacking paparazzi and stints in rehab which culminated in her collapsing and being hospitalised. The pictures of her strapped to a hospital gurney clearly show the singer is comatosed on drugs. It was shortly after this time that she lost joint custody of her young boys to Federline – and only given supervised visiting rights.
With her personal and professional career in tatters, Britney reluctantly went on stage at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards and was lambasted for miming and being too overweight for the performance – aired to millions worldwide.
She decided to take a break from the record industry and luckily came back with a bang in December 2008 with album ‘Circus’. The album was one of the fastest-selling of the year and the sultry and sexy lead single ‘Womanizer’ propelled her back into the limelight. The ensuing Circus tour netted the singer a cool $131m. This was followed up by seventh studio album ‘Femme Fatale’ in 2011 which peaked at Number 1 on the US Billboard Chart. Her appearance as a judge on US ‘X Factor’ alongside Simon Cowell in 2012 also helped her appeal to her fanbase yet again.
Fast forward to 2016 and Britney is seemingly again at career crossroads. While her Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood (she performs three times a week in 6 week rotations) was given the greenlight for a further two years, her ninth album ‘Glory’ and subsequent live performances haven’t done much to silence her critics with accusations of miming to tracks and less than poor dance performances.
Plus during a recent interview with NME Magazine Britney doubted her own career saying she might well be better off leaving it all behind and becoming a teacher.
“Seeing other artists continue to do this kind of thing inspires me too. Because sometimes I’m like, what am I doing? Like, I could be a teacher,” she confessed.
But Britney candidly revealed that her latest record is the first one where she really took creative control – and learnt to say no.
“Honestly, this is the first project where I’ve really been hands-on. I was really specific about who I worked with and I’ve been learning to say no. I’m a people-pleaser, so that’s hard for me – even if I don’t like something, I’ll do it just to make a person happy.”
Well Britney now has an incredible choice on her hands. If she listens to the pundits she may well veer into a life of Vegas shows and bit tours. However she cites Madonna and Whitney Houston as her idols and with Madge and Whitney clocking up careers spanning four decades she might just be in for the long run.

2016 metai kartu su Britney!
Pasibaigus tikrai puikiems 2016 metams, manau pats laikas apžvelgti kokie jie buvo mums ir mūsų Britney. O įvykių tikrai buvo ganėtinai daug! Britney blizgėjo Las Vegaso scenoje, pakaerėjo ne vienų apdovanojimų ir festivalių žiūrovus bei padovanojo mums albumą "Glory".
SAUSIS. Sausio 3 diena įvyko paskutinis Britney "Piece Of Me" koncertas pagal pirminį konceptą, kuris buvo rodomas nuo pat 2013 metų pabaigos. Pasirodė ir pirmasis atnaujintų koncertų plakatas su pavadinimu: "REMIXED. REIMAGINED. STILL ICONIC". Jau tada pradėjome spėlioti kokios dainos ir pasirodymai bus naujuose koncertuose.
SAUSIS. Sausio 3 diena įvyko paskutinis Britney "Piece Of Me" koncertas pagal pirminį konceptą, kuris buvo rodomas nuo pat 2013 metų pabaigos. Pasirodė ir pirmasis atnaujintų koncertų plakatas su pavadinimu: "REMIXED. REIMAGINED. STILL ICONIC". Jau tada pradėjome spėlioti kokios dainos ir pasirodymai bus naujuose koncertuose.
VASARIS. Pasirodė naujos reklaminės Britney koncertų Las Vegase nuotraukos. Įvyko atnaujintų "Piece Of Me" koncertų pramejera su naujais sceniniais kostiumais, naujomis dainomis, naujais intro vaizdo įrašais bei žinoma nauja choreografija. Šio įvykio dėka Britney dalyvavo keliuose interviu, kurių metu ir atskleidė, kad jau labai greitai pasirodys jos naujasis albumas.
KOVAS. Britney pasirodė šio mėnesio 100-ajame žurnalo "V Magazine" viršelyje su viena gražiausių metų fotosesijų. Atlikėja kartu su vaikais atostogavo Havajuose, o jos tobulo kūno formas aptarinėjo viso pasaulio spauda. Britney kartu su broliu Bryan pasirodė "Grand Ole Opry" koncertinėje scenoje, kad galėtų pasveikinti ir palaikyti savo seserį Jamie Lynn. Dar daugiau, Britney patvirtino, kad jau yra išrinkusi pirmąjį albumo singlą. Juo tapo daina "Make Me" įrašyta kartu su reperiu G-Eazy.
BALANDIS. Prasidėjo jau 13-asis "Piece Of Me" koncertų etapas. Oficialių dainų puslapyje buvo užregistruotos dvi naujos dainos: "Invitation" ir "Just Like Me". Pasirodė gandai, kad Britney atliks savo naujo singlo pasirodymą "Billboard Music Awards" apdovanojimų metu. Atlikėja aktyviai dalinose asmenukėmis Instagram profilyje.
GEGUŽĖ. Britney atliko visų savo geriausių singli mixą "Billboard Music Awards" apdovanojimų metu. Jai taip pat buvo įteiktas prestižinis "Millenium" apdovanojimas. Britney išleido pirmąjį savo žaidimą skirta išmaniems telefonams "American Dream". Užregistruota nauja daina pavadinimu "Man On The Moon". Pirmojo singlo išleidimas atidėtas dėl techninių kliūčių. Žurnalas "Forbes" paskelbė Britney #5 daugiausiai uždirbusią atlikėja per paskutinius 12-ą mėnesių, uždarbis siekia 10,5mln. JAV dolerių.
BIRŽELIS. Mėnesis prasidėjo nuo vaizdo klipo "Make Me" filmavimo darbų, kurį režisavo David LaChapelle. Deja, tačiau šiam meno kūriniui taip ir nebuvo lemta išvysti dienos šviesą. Prasidėjo 14-asis Las Vegaso koncertų etapas. Pasirodė pranešimai apie naujus Britney kvepalus "Private Show" bei reklaminio vaizdo klipo filmavimo darbus. Britney taip pat pasirodė sesers Jamie Lynn dokumentiniame filme "When The Lights Go Out".
LIEPA. Britney žaidime "American Dream" pasveikino visus su nepriklausomybės diena. Išleista daina "Hands" kartu su kitais garsiais atlikėjais (Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani ir kiti). Išleista daina "Private Show" kartu su to paties pavadinimo kvepalais. Išleistas ilgai lauktas pirmasis Britney singlas "Make Me". Kritikai tvirtino, kad tai viena geriausių jos dainų nuo 2007 metų. Singlas karaliavo Twitter topuose bei užėmė #1 vietą iškarto 40 pasaulio valstybių. Britney patvirtino, kad pasirodys "iHeart Radio" muzikos festivalyje bei pasigirdo gandai apie pasirodymą "MTV VMA" apdovanojimuose.
RUGPJŪTIS. Britney paskelbė apie naujausio albumo "Glory" išleidimą. Atlikėja padarė staigmeną ir pasirodė laidų vedėjo Jimmy Kimmel miegamajame su savo šokėjais. Išleistas pirmojo singlo "Make Me" vaizdo klipas, kuri jau režisavo Randee St Nicholas, su visiškai nauja koncepcija ir idėja. Išleistos naujos būsimo albumo dainos: "Clumsy"ir "Do You Wanna Come Over?". Britney pasirodė televizijos laidoje "Carpool Karaoke". Prasidėjo 15-asis "Piece Of Me" koncertų etapas. Pridėtos dvi naujos dainos iš albumo "Glory". Išleistas devintasis albumas "Glory". Albumas iškarto užėmė #1 visame pasaulyje. Britney sugrįžo į "MTV VMA" apdovanojimų sceną, kur atliko savo singlą "Make Me".
RUGSĖJIS. Britney pasirodė žurnalo "Flaunt Magazine" viršelyje. Pasirodymas "Today Show" laidoje tiesiogiai iš Las Vegaso. Sudalyvavo "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" laidoje su labai linksmu pasirodymu. Britney pasirodė programoje "Music Choice". Paaukojo 125 000 JAV dolerių nukentėjusiems Luizianoje nuo potvynio. Pasirodė "iHeart Radio" muzikos festivalyje. Sudalyvavo "BBC RADIO UK" interviu. Įrašė intervių televizijos kanalui "RTLFRANCE". Pasirodė "The Jonathan Ross Show" laidoje ir atliko singlą "Make Me". Svarbiausių mėnesio įvykio tapo jos pasirodymas Londone vykusiame "Apple Music" festivalyje su pilna Las Vegaso koncertų programa.
SPALIS. Britney pasirodė laidoje "Loose Woman UK". Davė intervių laidai "Today show Australia". Pasirodė labdaringame vaizdo įraše "Stand Up To Cancer". Prasidėjo 16-as Las Vegaso koncertų etapas. Interviu metu patvirtino, kad antruoju albumo singlu taps daina "Slumber Party" įrašyta duete kartu su Tinashe. Britney kartu su laidų vedėjų Mario Lopez labdaros akcijos "Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation" metu sportavo sporto klube su vaikais. Prasidėjo vaizdo klipo "Slumber Party" filmavimo darbais.
LAPKRITIS. Kartu su vaizdo klipu išleistas atnaujintas antrasis Britney singlas "Slumber Party". Atlikėja pasirodė trumpame vaizdo įraše kartu su aktoriumi Eddie Redmayne ("Fantastiniai gyvūnai"). Įteiktas "Music Choice Icon Awards 2016" apdovanojimas. Taip pat "Silver State Awards" apdovanojimuose ji nugalėjo kategorijoje - "Entertainer Of The Year". Pasirodė žurnalo "Vegas Player Magazine" viršelyje, kuriame pranešė, kad jau pradėjo darbus ties būsimo savo albumu. Britney laimėjo "The Best Of Las Vegas" kategorijoje bei kartu su Celine Dion dalinasi #1 vietą geriausios Las Vegaso atlikėjos kategorijoje. "Slumber Party" įtrauktas į Las Vegaso koncertinę programą. "Piece Of Me" koncertai užėmė #2 vietą "Billboard Current Boxscore" tope. Britney užėmė #8 vietą tarp geriausiai apmokamų atlikėjų su 30,5 mln. JAV dolerių uždarbiu.
GRUODIS. Mėnesis prasideda pop muzikos legendos gimtadieniu. Įvyksta kalėdinis Britney pasirodymas "KIIS Jingle Ball" koncerte. Vėliau seka dar du kalėdiniai pasirodymai "99.7 NOW Triple Ho Show" ir "B96 Jingle Bash" koncertuose. Britney įteiktas žurnalo "Bizaree" "Woman of the Year" apdovanojimas. "Fuse" skaitytojai išrinko vaizdo klipą "Make Me" geriausių 2016 metų vaizdo klipu. Žurnalas "Playboy" pavadino "Slumber Party" viena seksualiausių 2016 metų dainų. Daugelis muzikos tinklapių išrinko albumą "Glory" kaip vieną geriausių šių metų albumų.
